Friday, May 10, 2019 11:30pm (CDT) - The IBEW System Council T-3 (SCT-3) and AT&T/DIRECTV reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract covering approximately 1,650 employees working for the company nationwide in DIRECTV call centers in Boise, ID, Chicago, IL, and Missoula, MT.

The new tentative agreement must be voted on and accepted by the members of the IBEW. The IBEW SCT-3 will present the contract to its members over the next few weeks through a series of meetings and other communications. Complete ratification information and detailed contractual changes will be provided as soon as possible.

In the rapidly changing telecommunications industry, the IBEW and AT&T agreed there are several issues affecting both parties.  These talks addressed their concerns.  Wages, health care, and working conditions are always bargaining priorities which are addressed in the new agreement. We will continue to have discussions on implementation of this historic agreement and continue to build our partnership.

Details of the tentative agreement will be released in the days to come. After reviewing the new contract we feel our DIRECTV call center members will agree with the officers and delegates of the IBEW SCT-3 and vote to accept the tentative agreement.

May 5, 2019 – The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW System Council T-3 (IBEW SCT-3) and AT&T/DirecTV have agreed to begin “early bargaining" to renegotiate their collective bargaining agreement for “DirecTV” call center employees that is set to expire on August 24, 2019.

The contract commonly referred to as the Yellow agreement covers employees working in AT&T “DirecTV” Call Centers for the company in Boise-Idaho, Missoula-Montana, and Chicago “Grace Street” in Illinois.  These members are represented by IBEW Locals 291,768, and 21. Bargaining will officially open tomorrow May 6, 2019.

The IBEW and AT&T have agreed to bargain in good faith, in an attempt to reach an agreement for these call center employees during these “early” negotiations.  There are several issues affecting both parties in the rapidly changing communications/ entertainment content provider industry.

We would like to thank our IBEW members who took the time to fill out their bargaining surveys.  These will be challenging negotiations.  All IBEW members should be prepared to do their part to support their bargaining team. Updates on bargaining will only be released when necessary and can be found on ibew21.org (Found under the Member Resources tab/Where We Work/ AT&T DirecTV National SCT-3 Bargaining).

AT&T/DIRECTV Employees Vote to Approve Contract Agreements

August 15, 2016 - Downers Grove, IL - As we reported last month, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council T-3 (IBEW SCT-3) and AT&T reached a tentative agreement for over 3,000 employees recently organized who work at DIRECTV/AT&T.  Those agreements covered DIRECTV premises technicians, customer service employees, clerical employers, and warehouse workers.

We are very pleased to announced that today these contracts were overwhelming ratified by these workers.  The call center group voted 91.7% in favor of ratification and DIRECTV premises technicians, clerical employees, and warehouse workers voted 77.66% in favor of ratification.

The newly ratified contracts put into place wage progression scales, a comprehensive health care benefit package, a 401K plan with company matching, and a pension plan at a time when many across the country are seeing their pensions disappear.  The agreements also offer layoff protections and a very solid grievance and arbitration process.

These agreements could not have been reached had it not been for the hard work and dedication of these newest members of the IBEW.  They traveled across country to prepare for negotiations and with the help of IBEW SCT-3 negotiators they reached these agreements.

July 19, 2016 – Downers Grove, IL – Historic tentative agreements have been reached between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council T-3 (IBEW SCT-3) and AT&T for their employees working at recently acquired DIRECTV.  Earlier this year over 3000, AT&T DIRECTV employees joined the IBEW through a mutually agreed to card check neutrality process to bargain a first contract.  These new national agreements protect employees who perform work in call centers and technicians who install satellite services.

The contracts put into place wage progression scales, a comprehensive health care benefit package, a 401K plan with company matching, and a pension plan at a time when many across the country are seeing their pensions disappear.

The teams were headed up by IBEW International Representative Kevin Curran and IBEW SCT-3 Chairman Paul Wright.

Wright stated, “For many years employees at satellite providers have sought to be represented by labor organizations.  With the help of our DIRECTV members and the relationship the IBEW has fostered with AT&T over the last few years we were able to reach these historic agreements.”  These are the first national agreements that have been reached at either of the “Big 2” satellite providers.

The new agreements will be explained to the IBEW DIRECTV membership. They will then vote to approve the agreements.  The IBEW bargaining team approves of the agreements and are recommending that they be accepted by their newest members.  Highlights of both agreements can be found here.  Information on the agreements and a contract overview are being prepared and will be sent along with voting instructions to IBEW members.
