May 20, 2016
IBEW Local Union 21 filed an Unfair Labor Practice Charge (ULP) against DirectSat with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Region 13 in Chicago due the company’s refusal to bargain in good faith and provide the HSP agreement that management cited in a proposal at the bargaining table.

The Chicago NLRB, Region 13, ruled in favor of the workers and IBEW 21 on September 23, 2016. The NLRB ordered DirectSat to bargain in good faith and produce a full unredacted copy of the HSP agreement needed for bargaining.

July 20, 2017 - Muhl Decision

DirectSat appealed the May 20, 2016 decision to NLRB Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) Charles Muhl who again ruled in favor of the IBEW 21 DirectSat Workers and ordered management to bargain in good faith and produce a full unredacted copy of the HSP agreement needed for bargaining. 

March 20, 2018 - Muhl Decision Appeal

DirectSat instead of following the order delivered by the NLRB twice already, appealed the Muhl decision to the Full NLRB in Washington D.C., who for a third time, ruled in favor of IBEW 21 DirectSat Workers and again ordered DirectSat management to bargain in good faith and provide the documents requested for bargaining.

April 4, 2018 - DirectTV Motion to Intervene

With those three Worker Wins at the NLRB, DirecTV decided to get involved in DirectSat’s legal fight.  DirecTV filed a motion to Intervene and Reopen the March 20th Decision for Reconsideration.

July 25, 2018 - DirectTV Montion to Intervene Decision

Full Board in D.C. denies DirecTV’s Motion to Reopen their decision, which currently stands, leaving DirectSat with the order to bargain in good faith and provide the documents requested for bargaining.
