Feb 11, 2014 - IBEW 21 Days of Giving Update
May 07, 2015
February 11, 2014

Great Job! It’s taken some time but all of your donations have finally been delivered to all the food banks we supported with the first ever IBEW 21 Days of Giving. You literally collected a “ton” of food, from our best estimates over 2,300 pounds, and an additional $5,038 in cash donations. We were amazed donations were still coming to the union hall late in January.

The cash donations to the Feeding Illinois food banks we supported were distributed as follows:

Greater Chicagoland Food Depository $1,381
Northern Illinois Food Bank $1,046
St. Louis Area Foodbank $618
Food Bank of Northwest Indiana $518
Peoria Area Food Bank $447
River Bend Food Reservoir Rock Island/Moline $351
Central Illinois Food Bank/Springfield $343
Eastern Illinois Foodbank $334

We would like to thank all IBEW Local 21 members who donated and volunteered during the IBEW 21 Days of Giving. We would also like to thank The Sage Group, Goldberg, Weisman & Cairo, and the IBEW 21 clerical staff represented by UFCW Local 881 for their generous donations. Together we all made Local 21’s first community outreach event a success.

In 2014, we will apply the lessons we learned to future outreach activities. We want to grow our community outreach program and are looking for additional ways we can help those in the communities where we live and work. We learned that some work locations collect school supplies, coats, toys, shoes and other things for those in need throughout the year. We may use some of those ideas for future events. We would also like to see our members volunteer like they did at Mercy Home

We are looking into ways our members can volunteer at food banks, soup kitchens, senior centers, and children’s homes just to name a few. We are exploring the possibilities of assisting at organizations like Habitat for Humanity and others.

We can’t be successful without you. We need your ideas, time and support. We feel we can rebuild a sense of community among Local 21 members by assisting those in need. If you can volunteer or know of an organization in your community where Local 21 members can offer their assistance contact Bob Przybylinski or Dave Webster in the Union Hall at 630-960-4466 exts. 447/449 or email them at bobp@ibew21.org or dwebster@ibew21.org.

Together we all can make a difference.
Solidarity!
