Today AT&T announced to their employees they will be reorganizing. The leadership of IBEW Local 21 has only been informed that management intends to reorganize by January 2014 and new organizations will be formed from the current Core Installation & Maintenance, U-verse Field Operations and First Mile groups. No other details have been made available.
Management stated “There will be a tremendous amount of coordination and effort over the next few months as we develop and execute our plans.” IBEW 21 Assistant Business Manager Bill Henne has already spoken with high level AT&T management. He informed them the changes AT&T plans to implement must be negotiated with the leadership of IBEW Local 21. They are currently setting up meetings to discuss the company’s reorganization.
We must remind our membership things can change daily. We must let the process play itself out. We realize many members have questions, concerns and that rumors may start to fly. Union updates will be released as necessary. We will only report on verified factual information.
