Feb 27, 2013 - Early AT&T Negotiations Set to Begin
May 07, 2015

Wednesday February 27, 2013

Contract negotiations affecting over 6,500 IBEW members employed nationwide at AT&T will begin on Monday, March 11, 2013. The current collective bargaining agreement expires at midnight on Saturday, June 22, 2013.

Over the past several weeks, IBEW Local 21 President Business Manager/System Council T-3 (SCT-3) Chairman Paul Wright, IBEW Local 21 Vice President/Assistant Business Manager Bill Henne, in coordination with other SCT-3 officers, have been in discussions with AT&T management over the feasibility of entering early negotiations with the company.  As a result of their talks, the IBEW and AT&T have worked out a framework which will guide them through the bargaining process and allow them to enter into early negotiations.

It is the intent of the IBEW and the company to reach an agreement that is fair to both sides by the conclusion of those negotiations. The members of the IBEW have been working under the terms of a one-year contract extension signed in July 2012.  The terms of the current contract were originally agreed to in 2009.

IBEW SCT-3 Chairman Paul Wright was quoted as saying “IBEW telecommunications members have faced tough times in recent years due to the rapidly changing industry and the great recession.  It is our goal to preserve good paying middle class jobs for our membership.

During early negotiations updates on bargaining will only be released when necessary. When information is available it will be posted on ibew21.org, the IBEW 21 hotline 630-415-2711, text and email updates will be provided.  The quickest way to receive text updates is by texting the message IBEW21 to 69866.  You can also sign up for email and text alerts by clicking here.

All IBEW members are asked to support their bargaining team. Show them your support with your Solidarity!
