Sisters and Brothers, Local 21 recently completed an update of members who want to receive emails and text messages.  After this upload we found hundreds of members with bad email addresses and cell phone numbers or providers. We are asking you to please pass this sign-up link to other members you work with so they can get IBEW 21 updates. Members who want to sign-up for email or texting alerts or update their contact information please click on this link.

Congratulations to our 2022 IBEW 21 Scholars Emma Hahn, D'Angelo Manzo, Dominic Stancato and Stella Weisfus.

IBEW Local Union 21 and SEIU opened Unit 2 contract negotiations with the City of Chicago. We passed a series of Economic and Non-Economic proposals that reflect your sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic and your hard-work as Essential Public Safety Workers who are also dealing with soaring cost of living expenses. The City did not pass any proposals and offered no responses to the offers we laid on the table. Our strength lies in our Unity. United We Bargain, Divide We Beg!

IBEW SCT-3 - AT&T Contract Extended-Bargaining Update #2 Friday, June 24, 2022 - 3:00pm (CDT) - The IBEW SCT-3 Council and AT&T have agreed to extend their current collective bargaining agreement while talks to reach a new contract continue. The agreement extends the current collective bargaining agreement through 11:59 PM on July 6, 2022. All IBEW members need to be ready to act. All Union Stewards should make sure to build their contact lists so information can be spread quickly to those in their work groups.

Don't forget to do your part at Comcast and take the Comcast Bargaining survey. It is designed to be completed by all current IBEW 21 members working at Comcast. We are asking all Local 21 Comcast members to take the time to fill out the survey completely.

With the extreme heat and humidity hitting our area, we remind all IBEW Local 21 Union members to take proper precautions while working outside, going to and from work, and while enjoying your time at home. We also ask that you check on your co-workers, family, friends, neighbors and all others who may be at risk. Every year, thousands of workers become sick from exposure to heat, and some even die. Our members and others in our industry who are working hard to do their jobs do fall victim to heat-related injuries. These illnesses and deaths are preventable. All IBEW Local Union 21 members should review safety documentation given to them by their employers. Supplemental information on working in hot weather can be found on OSHA’s website osha.gov.

AT&T presented their first benefits proposal, which clearly indicated they didn’t understand the modern day economic pressures their employees face. The IBEW bargaining team made it clear that our Union seeks to push past the typical bargaining table gamesmanship and looks forward to the company preparing more realistic proposals. As we have all experienced there have been dramatic changes in the world, ones our members have never faced. IBEW SCT-3 Chairman Paul Wright said, “IBEW members have faced unprecedented challenges in recent years; COVID, changing employee expectations related to the great resignation, and now world events that are affecting the US economy. As the self-proclaimed Big Business Roundtable leader, AT&T must be willing to step up and meet these challenges. It is our goal to address these new realities while also preserving good-paying middle class jobs for our membership.”
