March 6, 2014
AT&T continues to hire new premise technicians. Representatives from IBEW Local 21 have reached an agreement with AT&T to allow our members working as premise technicians to preference to other Uverse work locations as outlined in the agreement.
You may chose up to 3 locations in your preference. Please only pick a location or locations that you want to transfer to; you do not have to pick three you can select only one or two. If you would like to stay in your current location you do not have to submit a preference form. New locations have been added to the preference form please read it carefully.
Paper preference copies that have previously been submitted are no longer valid. All preferences must now be completed electronically using the link provided by AT&T in the email they sent to employees earlier today. The system will remain open throughout the year. If you experience any type of trouble contact your manager and union steward immediately.
Management will be making the first set of preference moves with data submitted to their website on Monday, March 10, 2014; therefore, your entries must be input by 11pm CST on Sunday, March 9, 2014 if you wish to be considered before the next groups of employees are hired.
You can submit or change your preference anytime throughout the year to be considered in future moves. Management will consider these preferences before hiring off the street to fill vacancies. All moves are subject to the terms of the agreement.
We are pleased we were able to reach this agreement with management. We feel it will benefit our members by allowing them the opportunity to preference into more desirable work locations when possible.
If you have questions regarding the 2014 Premise Technician Preference Agreement you can refer to the details management emailed to employees earlier today. If you have additional questions or concerns on the preferencing process please contact your steward, Chief Steward, or Business Representative.
If you haven’t done so already it’s not too late to join us at the “March for Kids” events that start at this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day Parades. More information can be found here.
Solidarity!
