June 27, 2016 - Lake County, Indiana Emergency Call Dispatchers who voted to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 (IBEW 21) in June 2015 have reached a historic first contract with Lake County representatives.  The tentative agreement which affects nearly 100 Lake County Indiana Emergency Call Center dispatchers still needs to be ratified by the IBEW 21 members.

Union officials are planning meetings with the dispatchers to explain the new agreement and then ask them to vote to accept the proposal.  The IBEW 21 bargaining team consisting of IBEW 21 negotiators and Lake County dispatchers are recommending that their members accept the agreement.

Paul Wright, IBEW 21 President – Business Manager stated, “We were seeking a contract that rewarded the dispatchers for their service to the residents of Lake County.  This agreement this achieves many of our goals.”

We would like to thank everyone for their involvement.  If you have any questions be contact IBEW 21 Business representative Byron Bonham at 630 960-4466 ext. 340.  A brief contract overview can be found here.
