Local 21 Ready to Battle AT&T
Brothers and Sisters - - as we have reported previously, AT&T announced on June 28, 2006 that they plan to close their Global Markets centers in Illinois and have this work performed by out of state workers making less money. We ask that you pay special attention to the issues affecting 137 IBEW Local 21 members in Global, whether you individually are affected by them or not.
One of organized labors strongest beliefs is communicated in the famous quote that an injury to one is an injury to all. This most recent arrogant and coldhearted decision by AT&T is one that may very well lead to the unnecessary loss of hundreds of good union jobs. It is imperative that as union members, we all stay current on these issues, along with all the other trouble going on within AT&T today. These issues are as we all know, affecting virtually every member of our great union.
IBEW Local 21 calls on all members to volunteer to help in this battle. [Full Story]
