National Call-In Day for Health Care Reform
January 13, 2010 - The IBEW believes it is critically important that Congress act now to enact health care reform legislation. At the same time, we believe it is essential that health care reform be financed through progressive measures that require employers and wealthy individuals to pay their fair share. We continue to strongly oppose the provisions in the Senate bill that would impose an excise tax on health care plans. [More]

Call your representative and senators toll free 1-877-3-AFL-CIO (1-877-323-5246) to send them a loud clear message. Tell them to support working families and that we want Congress to act now to pass health care reform legislation. However, we also want Congress to reject the Senate provision that would impose an excise tax on health care plans. [More]

The Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders will be having discussions during the next few weeks to iron out differences in the health care reform bills that have been passed by the House and Senate. The bills will be merged into final legislation over the next few weeks. The AFL-CIO has developed a report comparing the differences in the House of Representative Bill and the Senate Health Car Bill. The House version is far better for working families. [More]

Disputes over AT&T Retiree Health Care Continue to Grow

January 7, 2010 - The latest dispute surrounding retiree health care benefits deals with co-pay amounts. During bargaining, our Union’s bargaining team understood insurance co-pays would remain the same. If you retired between 1/1/93 and 4/3/04 your co pay should be $30. If you retired after 4/4/04, your co-pay should be $20. AT&T management maintains all co-pays are $30 regardless of when you retired. On Monday, January 4th, AT&T denied our claims! [More]

Retiree Insurance Cards

January 7, 2010 - Some retirees still have not received their new 2010 Blue Cross/ Blue Shield or United Health Care insurance card. Other retirees who changed providers from UHC to BC/BS PPO received the wrong card. If you haven’t received yours or it has the wrong provider call Hewitt at 1-877-722-0020 to get your insurance card. [More]
