IBEW Local Union 21 2010 Scholarship Program

The IBEW Local Union 21 Scholarship Program is available to all IBEW Local Union 21 members and their immediate family members. Each year, the local awards ten winners scholarships of $1000 each. 2010 Applications must be received by March 3rd, 2010. More AT&T Job Cuts in Illinois and Northwest Indiana

December 16, 2009 - AT&T announced they will be cutting more jobs at 10 S. Canal and 311 W. Washington in Chicago, and at their Long Distance Call Center in Rosemont. AT&T is seeking further cuts in other areas of their operations by asking employees to take voluntary separation packages. [More]

AT&T Backtracks on Retiree Benefits

December 16, 2009 - Our Union is at odds with AT&T over two items we negotiated in the new retiree health care benefits during 2009 bargaining.

The first item has to do with the Health Care Reimbursement Accounts (HRA). Debit cards should have been issued to every pre-Medicare retiree to access the funds in each retiree’s HRA. AT&T claims they did not agree to issue debit cards. [More]

Verizon Gives 1-Day Layoff Notice to 200 IBEW Members

December 15, 2009 - Verizon employees working mostly in fiber optic installation and service are preparing to challenge the company’s decision in arbitration. The 200 affected workers are members of seven IBEW locals in New England. Over 1,000 CWA members will also lose their jobs. Full story on the IBEW’s website. [More]
