Wednesday, June 19, 2019 – On June 11, 2019, IBEW 21 and Lake County, Indiana 911 Center representatives reached a tentative agreement on a new contract covering dispatchers working at the Lake County Indiana Emergency Call Center. This update contains highlights of the article by article changes.  When available more information will be posted on ibew21.org


Wednesday, June 19, 2019 (11:00 CST) – On Friday, June 14, 2019 AT&T announced a surplus affecting 200 employees in Illinois and Northwest Indiana. The job cuts will affect employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 (IBEW 21). Voluntary Separation Packages (VSIPP) are available to eligible employees who are not affected by Friday’s surplus announcement as defined in Article 30.43 of our AT&T Contract. If you would like to save the job of someone whose job is at risk, please consider turning in your VSIPP application today. If you are interested, contact your manager. You must electronically file for a VSIPP today by 5 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, June 19, 2019. The announced surpluses affecting IBEW Local 21 members are as follows:


June 14, 2019 - 2:00 PM Earlier today AT&T announced a surplus affecting IBEW Local Union 21 (IBEW 21) members in Illinois and Northwest Indiana.  In that announcement management informed employees that SIPP packages were being distributed.  They did not offer up any other information or numbers or affected locations.  Many members are asking what is going on. Right now IBEW 21 Leadership is in discussions with the company on how to deal with the surplus and SIPP announcement. Because of these discussions numbers and locations are NOT being released at this time. We know this is frustrating but we do not feel it is fair to play with people’s emotions until we iron out issues concerning the surplus. Simply put things are changing rapidly; by the time you read this message things may have already changed.


Tuesday, June 11, 2019 - The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 (IBEW 21) and Lake County, Indiana 911 Center representatives reached a tentative agreement on a new contract covering dispatchers working at the Lake County Indiana Emergency Call Center.

Friday June 7, 2019 - 5:00pm (C.D.T.) – The membership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council T-3 (IBEW SCT-3) covered under the AT&T/DIRECTV Call Center agreement have voted overwhelmingly to accept the tentative agreement that was reached on May 10, 2019. The new four year agreement covers approximately 1.600 employees working for the company in call centers located in Boise, ID, Chicago, IL, and Missoula, MT. The officers and delegates of the IBEW System Council T-3, officers and staffs of the IBEW Locals belonging to the SCT-3 would like to thank their members for their hard work, solidarity, attendance at the many contract explanation meetings, and ultimate acceptance of the contract.


We have good news, AT&T has agreed to reduce the amount of work being performed by contractors doing AT&T DirecTV work. The work will move to IBEW 21 Premises Technicians working in Illinois and Northwest Indiana. This move will provide IBEW 21 members more job security. Beginning soon AT&T expects to cross train Premises Technicians on DirecTV work beyond the normal Genie Bundles. The training is anticipated to begin in the Suburban West area and take place in either Westmont or Chicago Heights. The cross training expands the ability to work share and reroute work performed by contractors to Premises Technicians.


IBEW Local Union 21 mourns the loss of our Brother Ronald S. Kapitanek who worked for AT&T.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and coworkers.


This update contains more information on changes made to articles, appendixes, memorandums and letters to the IBEW System Council T-3 (SCT-3) and AT&T/DIRECTV  four-year tentative agreement covering employees working for the company in DIRECTV call centers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your IBEW representative. Your IBEW bargaining team approves of the proposed agreement and is recommending that you vote YES on the ballot that has been sent to your home address on file.


On Friday, May 10, 2019 the IBEW System Council T-3 (SCT-3) and AT&T/DIRECTV reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract covering employees working for the company in DIRECTV call centers. The new tentative agreement must be voted on and accepted by the members of the IBEW. The IBEW SCT-3 will present the contract to its members over the next few weeks through a series of meetings and other communications. After reviewing the new contract we feel our members will agree with the officers and delegates of the IBEW SCT-3 and vote to accept the tentative agreement. The highlights are as follows:
