February 14, 2018
On February 2, 2018, AT&T notified IBEW Local Union 21 they were contemplating a Premise Technician Layoff. Since then there have been multiple conversations between AT&T’s Labor Relations Department and representatives from IBEW 21.
We are pleased to announce that AT&T will not be moving forward with their contemplated Premise Technician force reduction. The contemplated layoff of IBEW 21 Premise Technicians has been STOPPED!
Over the past two weeks your Union presented management with many ideas on how to avoid the potential layoff. The alternatives and implementation are still part of ongoing discussions. To put Premise Technicians at ease it is important to know employees will not be forced to work a reduced schedule.
While this communication doesn’t offer a lot details we felt it was important to put this message out to calm the fears of many Premise Technicians who thought they may be losing their jobs. Discussions are ongoing. Future information will be shared when available.
We realize the last two weeks have been stressful for our membership. We thank you for your patience. To prevent unnecessary anxiety we ask that members avoid stirring the pot by speculating and feeding the rumor mill. If you have any questions or concerns please contact your Chief Steward or Business Representative their information can be found here.
