Oct 30, 2014 - Illinois Workers' Compensation Benefits Could Be Cut!
Jun 04, 2015

October 30, 2014

We normally don’t share emails we receive from other organizations, but after reading this one we thought it was important to share it with you. It deals with a topic that could affect all working families in Illinois.

If you haven’t voted or are still undecided please seriously consider the information we are sharing with you. It offers a different perspective on the election…

Subject: Quinn for Governor

Dear Friends,

While we normally don't ask our friends to vote for certain candidates in an election, we feel compelled to make an exception when it comes to this year's election for Illinois Governor.  For Illinois residents who are injured at work or in other types of accidents, this is not just another election.  Bruce Rauner has publicly advocated significant cutbacks in Workers' Compensation benefits for Illinois residents, and has made no secret about his belief in tort reform.  As it is, our clients have a difficult enough time getting benefits after being injured at work.  If Rauner were elected, those benefits - which are already low - would be slashed, and it would be even more difficult to get them.  Moreover, Rauner wants to take away an injured worker's right to get good medical treatment.  Rauner also intends to establish tort reform, making it much more difficult for anyone to obtain compensation when seriously injured by another's negligence.

Bruce Rauner's ideas are certainly not a surprise to people who know how he made his vast fortune.  Rauner has no regard to the plight of the working class.  He has a history of destroying people's lives and families, almost like a game, to enable him to add extra millions to his personal fortune.  He must be stopped from implementing his plans for our State.

No matter what you might think of Governor Quinn, we don't have a choice. We must stop Bruce Rauner from becoming the next Governor of Illinois.

Please vote for Pat Quinn for Governor, and encourage your friends and family to do the same.  In the 2010 election, Pat Quinn won by just 30,000 votes out of the 3,700,000 total votes cast.  What this shows us is that every vote truly does count.

Please forward this email to your friends and family and let’s help stop Bruce Rauner's anti worker agenda.

Thank you,

Michael B. Goldberg

We sincerely hope that you are never injured on the job but please keep in mind the adverse effects we may face if we don’t get involved and vote for candidates who support every day working people.
