AT&T Layoffs in Illinois & Indiana

Today, AT&T announced layoffs in Illinois and Northwest Indiana. The job cuts will affect employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 (IBEW 21).

Most of the employees affected by the AT&T announcement met with management on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 to review their SIPP packages and related surplus information.

The announced layoffs affecting IBEW members are as follows:

Title Group 2

In the Construction and Engineering Department, 69 Cable Splicing Technician positions are being eliminated.

Chicago- NW Indiana RCA
5 – Chicago Roscoe
2 – Chicago Hastings
4 – Crown Point, IN
2 – Hammond, IN

North Suburban RCA

1 – Addison
3 – Des Plaines
8 – East Dundee
2 – Fox Lake
4 – Mount Prospect
1 – Gurnee
2 – St. Charles

South Suburban RCA

1 – Summit
5 – Bridgeview
4 – Glenwood
8 – Montgomery
7 – Orland Park
1 – Romeoville
5 – Westmont
4 – Villa Park


Title Group 3

The positions of 20 Engineering Assistants are being cut.

9 – Blue Island
4 – Joliet
7 – Oak Brook


Title Group 7

AT&T is closing the Global IP Operation & Infrastructure Service Center in Chicago at 225 W. Randolph and eliminating:

12 – Marketing Support Specialists (MSS)

The company is also cutting positions at the Global Customer Care Center in Chicago at 225 W. Randolph:

11 – Customer Advocates


Title Group 10

AT&T is also eliminating an additional 6 positions at 225 W. Randolph in Chicago.

1 – Administrative Specialist in Construction
1 – Technical Specialist in Construction
1 – Technical Associate in Global Customer Service
3 – Technical Associates in the Global IP Operation & Infrastructure Service Center


General SIPP

AT&T is offering a general SIPP to I&M Customer System Technicians (CST) in RCA groups 2, 3, and 4 in all Market Business Units (MBU).


Voluntary Separation Packages - VSIPP

Voluntary Separation Packages (VSIPP) are available to all employees who are not affected by today’s surplus announcement as defined in Article 30.43. If you would like to save the job of someone whose job is at risk please consider turning in your VSIPP application today. If you are interested you must file your VSIPP paperwork by 5 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, March 22, 2016.
